But, whilst you’d have had to be living under a rock not to have heard about the boom in AI, most farmers wouldn’t naturally associate the topic with an increase in farm income.

Farmer’s son Cedric Porter is a consulting editor for Farmers Guardian. An agricultural business journalist for almost 30 years, he provides business and market analysis for Farmers Guardian and Dairy Farmer.

Cedric also publishes a weekly report on the global potato market, which is read by potato professionals around the world. He studied agricultural and journalism and has covered some of the most important farming stories of the last few decades for agricultural publications and national media. He regularly appears on BBC radio and TV commenting on potatoes and agricultural supply issues.

Cedric has recently stepped down as the Vice-Chair of LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), he has served as a director of a large Norfolk farm and as a member of the UK Government’s Trade And Agriculture Commission. He presents and chairs conferences in the UK and globally and is a past Chair of the Oxford Farming Conference.
